Goyt Valley

Goyt Valley is particularly close to my heart as I grew up in Macclesfield, being the closest part of the Peak District to us.  Many of the walks and places I visit today hold such fond memories from my childhood. There are many great view points around Goyt and it’s two reservoirs, especially from Shining Tor & Stake Side. Like Derwent, Goyt has many wooded areas to explore. The history of places has always intrigued me, the story behind Errwood Hall especially, is a sad yet fascinating one.  It really is a shame that the Hall was demolished during the construction of the reservoirs, with only some of the base structure remaining today
