The Beast from the East as I’m sure most will remember was the anticyclone which brought cold easterly winds into Europe and the British Isles leading to snowfall and sub-zero temperatures as result of freezing air from Siberia. Snowed in and sat at home bored, I was just itching to get out with my camera. I decided to brave the elements and venture up to the Shooting Cabin. I got really wrapped up and headed out. On my way up Snake Path towards Twenty Trees the blizzard was even more intense being that bit higher up and exposed on the hillside. I nearly got blown over a few times. I made it to Twenty Trees and captured this shot as soon as I could – I knew it wouldn’t be there for very long. The storms intensity grew to the point I could barely see. There was no way I was going up to make it to The Shooting Cabin so I headed back home to the warmth. Was really pleased with this capture given the conditions I had to take it in. It’s gone on to be my most popular shot of the iconic Twenty Trees.
